- Tampa, Florida; 21 Dec 93: Logical Engineering will be holding private
- demonstrations during MACWORLD of the ROMBox 300, a CD-ROM jukebox with two
- double speed drives. This compact unit measuring only 17.5"w x 20"d x 27"h
- holds 300 discs and can be interfaced with Macintosh, DOS and Unix systems. As
- an option, one of the 2x drives can be replaced with a CD-Recorder for the
- ultimate archival / retrieval system.
-
- While at first glance the need to access 300 CD's - over 180 gigabytes of data
- - appears to be an extraordinary situation, there are many applications that
- have immediate needs for such systems.
- Hospitals, Newspapers, Government, Libraries, Law, Engineering and Business
- offices are now finding reference and subscription material being provided on
- CD-ROM as well as converting their own data to CD-R format. With the ability to
- access 300 published titles of archived data mastered on CD-Recordable media,
- the ROMBox 300 is one of the most cost-effective jukebox systems on the market.
-
- The ROMBox 300 mayt be connected to any computer with a serial port and a SCSI
- port. There are two banks of 150 CD-ROM discs from which a robotic control
- makes its selection and mounts the CD onto either of two double speed SCSI
- devices. The robotics are controlled through an RS232 / 422 interface and the
- whole operation can be activated by using five simple commands with just two
- variables to each sequence. Maximum load time is just 13 seconds for the
- requested volume to be selected and mounted on the drive. For larger
- applications, multiple ROMBox 300 units can be daisy-chaines together.
-
- Logical Engineering is actively seeking alliances for software development and
- marketing of its products. They will be demonstrating the ROMBox 300 at the San
- Francisco Hilton by appointment only. If you would like to see the ROMBox 300
- during the MACWORLD show, please contact Sandy Levine at (813) 264-5236 or fax
- (813) 264-5140
